Set Goals Too High
After working at Google, I'll never set my goals too high. I learned at Google that it's better to set achievable goals than to shoot for the stars. Sure, it's great to have goals that push you out of your comfort zone, but it's also important to have realistic goals that you can actually reach. At Google, I saw firsthand how setting overly ambitious goals can be demoralizing. If you're constantly setting goals that you can't meet, it takes a toll on your motivation and self-esteem. Now, when I set goals, I always make sure that they are realistic and achievable.
Neglect My Network
I'll never neglect my network again. Google taught me the importance of networking and keeping in touch with people. Networking can help you gain new opportunities and open up possibilities. It's also a great way to stay connected with people who can offer advice and support. I used to think of networking as something that was reserved for people who were already successful, but that's not the case. Networking is important for everyone, no matter where they're at in their career. Now, I make sure to stay connected with colleagues and friends, so that I can take advantage of new opportunities.
Forget About Learning
I'll never forget about learning. Google is a place where learning is highly valued. Every day, I was surrounded by smart and ambitious people who were constantly pushing themselves to learn new things. It was inspiring to see how everyone was eager to learn and grow. I was also lucky enough to take advantage of the many learning opportunities that Google had to offer. From workshops to seminars, I was able to gain knowledge and skills that have been invaluable for my career. Now, I make sure to always stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies, so that I can stay ahead of the competition.
Limit Myself to One Role
At Google, I learned that it's important to be flexible and open to trying new things. I saw how limiting yourself to one role can stunt your growth and prevent you from taking advantage of new opportunities. Now, I'm open to taking on projects outside of my comfort zone and exploring new areas. This has given me a chance to develop new skills and find new areas of interest. It's also helped me to broaden my horizons and become a more well-rounded professional.
Dwell on Mistakes
I'll never dwell on mistakes again. At Google, I learned that it's better to move on from your mistakes than to dwell on them. Sure, it's important to reflect on your mistakes and learn from them, but it's just as important to move forward and focus on the future. Dwelling on mistakes can be demoralizing and prevent you from making progress. Now, I'm more understanding of my mistakes and try to focus on how I can avoid making the same mistake again. This has helped me to become a more resilient professional.
Be Afraid to Take Risks
I'll never be afraid to take risks again. At Google, I saw the importance of taking risks and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Taking risks can lead to new opportunities and help you to develop new skills. It can also help you to gain new perspectives and open up new possibilities. Now, I'm more willing to take risks and explore new areas. This has allowed me to find new opportunities and take my career to the next level.
Neglect My Personal Life
I'll never neglect my personal life again. Working at Google taught me the importance of striking a balance between work and life. It's easy to get caught up in your career and forget about your personal life, but it's important to make sure that you take care of yourself. Now, I make sure to take time for myself and my family and friends. This helps me to stay productive and motivated at work and to stay connected with the people who matter most to me.
Be Too Proud to Ask For Help
I'll never be too proud to ask for help again. Working at Google showed me how important it is to ask for help when you need it. Sure, it can be difficult to ask for help, especially if you're used to being independent. But, when you're stuck on a project or facing a challenging problem, it's important to ask for help. Now, I'm more willing to reach out for help and take advantage of the resources and expertise that are available. This has helped me to become a better problem solver and to find solutions more quickly.
Be Afraid to Speak Up
I'll never be afraid to speak up again. At Google, I learned that it's important to speak up and share your ideas. Being able to express yourself and your thoughts is key to being an effective team member. It's also important to be able to voice your concerns and share your opinion. Now, I'm more confident in voicing my thoughts and offering my perspective. This has helped me to become a more effective team member and to contribute more to projects.
Forget About My Passions
I'll never forget about my passions again. Working at Google reminded me that it's important to make time for your passions, even when you're busy with work. It's easy to get caught up in your career and forget about the things that make you happy. Now, I make sure to take time for the things that I'm passionate about. This helps me to stay motivated and inspired and to make sure that I'm not neglecting the things that are important to me.
